Finding Peace: 7 Days on Anxiety and Trust
Seven short readings for anxious hearts. Each day offers a passage and a gentle question to help you bring your worries to God, one at a time.
Matthew 6:25-34
Anxiety is a common human experience, and Scripture speaks to it with tenderness rather than shame. This plan is not a replacement for professional care. If anxiety is overwhelming your daily life, please talk with a trusted person, pastor, counselor, or doctor. If you are ever in crisis, contact your local emergency services right away.
Take each day slowly. There is no need to rush.
Day 1 — Birds, Lilies, and Today
Read: Matthew 6:25-34
Jesus points to birds and wildflowers as signs of the Father's care. What is one worry about tomorrow that you could set down, just for today?
Day 2 — Prayer with Thanksgiving
Read: Philippians 4:4-9
Paul pairs prayer with thanksgiving and then invites us to dwell on what is true and lovely. Try listing three specific things you are thankful for alongside the requests you bring to God.
Day 3 — When I Am Afraid
Read: Psalm 56
David writes this psalm while in danger and still chooses trust. What fear could you honestly name before God today, followed by the simple words, "I will trust in you"?
Day 4 — Casting Your Cares
Read: 1 Peter 5:6-11
Peter invites us to cast our worries on God because he cares for us. What would it look like to physically or symbolically "hand over" a specific burden today?
Day 5 — Jesus in the Storm
Read: Mark 4:35-41
The disciples cry out, "Don't you care?" while Jesus sleeps in the boat. What storm in your life makes you wonder whether God cares, and how might you bring that question to him honestly?
Day 6 — Called by Name
Read: Isaiah 43:1-7
God speaks to his people as those he has created, redeemed, and called by name. How does it feel to know that God calls you his own, even through deep waters?
Day 7 — Peace That Is a Gift
Read: John 14:1-4 and John 14:25-27
Jesus gives his friends peace on the night before his death. As you finish this plan, what is one practice you want to continue in order to keep receiving his peace?
Scripture quotations: World English Bible (WEB) or King James Version (KJV), public domain.
